Blind Digital Scanner Users Listserv 📧️
This group is for users of digital police scanners who happen to be blind or visually impaired, or sighted folks who may wish to help these users find ways to make it easier for those users to enjoy many hours of great listening. At present, these scanners are quite difficult for a blind person to use, both because the radios are driven by menus that cannot be deciphered, and most of the PC-based software cannot be used with the special screen reading software that a blind person must use. I own two Uniden scanners, and one Whistler scanner, and despite being totally blind I have, in fact, come up with some workarounds to get some partial use and enjoyment out of them. I welcome other blind users who may have any of these scanners and have come up with ways to use them, and encourage sighted scanner enthusiasts who might be able to also share hints, tips or other ideas for us to try.
