Greetings,

1) We now officially have a free way for blind people to dictate text and to control the computer using voice, with the release of Dictation Bridge Version 1.0, which works with both NVDA and JAWS:

http://dictationbridge.com/

2) The other big piece of news from this week relates to Microsoft Soundscape, a free iOS app available in the US and UK. It is a navigation app which "offers a 3D audio experience crafted specifically for exploration." The San Francisco Lighthouse for the Blind was a sponsor, and here's their take on the app, along with a YouTube video showing it in action:

http://lighthouse-sf.org/2018/03/01/microsoft-soundscape-new-way-navigate/

2B) Guide Dogs UK was another sponsor, and here is their take, again with a video demonstration:

https://www.guidedogs.org.uk/services-we-provide/technology/

2C) And here's the Microsoft blog post on the topic:

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/accessibility/2018/02/28/soundscape/

3) We have interesting resources this week for those interested in aidio and jusic. CAVI will no longer offer its courses on audio fundamentals, advanced audio production and music composition, so they are offering them as donationware, that is, free, with donations appreciated. The thought is, particularly with regard to the Reaper program, that it will evolve, rendering some of the course materials obsolete, so they prefer that people be able to use the course materials while they are still current. There's a lot of quality instructional material here:

4) Access Music Tech is a community driven place where people can share and learn from each other. It contains Youtube videos and tutorials on a variety of technology platforms:

http://accessmtech.com/

5A) The Able Artist Foundation at:

https://ableartist.org/

5B) Offers memberships to those on fixed income, offering discounts on a variety of artistic and musicianship tools. You can hear a podcast about them from Blind Abilities:

https://blindabilities.com/bapresents/attention-musicians-audio-creators-singers-let-the-access-begin-able-artist-foundation-meets-you-half-way/

6) A survey is available to allow Android users to express interest in the popular Seeing AI app which at present is only available for iOS:

7) The fourth upgrade for the Braille Sense Polaris, unveiling the beta of their math graphing function and other fixes and enhancements including continued improvements in word processor editing, and more consistent navigation between BrailleSense and Android:

https://hims-inc.com/braille-sense-series/braillesense-polaris-upgrade-announcement/

8) Sao Mai Center for the Blind has released a talking typing teaching program, available for $14. It features customizable lessons, an explore mode, and tools to allow teachers to manage student learning progress:

9) Google has changed its Disability Support email address. For answers to accessibility questions on Google products, write to:

10B) Eyes on Success #1810 features an interview about Amazon Accessibility Services:

http://eyesonsuccess.net

11) This is an article about accessible landmarks on the web:

http://www.scottohara.me/blog/2018/03/03/landmarks.html

11B) There is also a site for demonstrating the application of landmarks:

https://scottaohara.github.io/landmarks_demo/

12A) This AppleVis podcast is called "Explore, Read and Learn with the Bible:" (MP3)

http://www.applevis.com/sites/default/files/podcasts/AppleVisPodcast1125.mp3

12B) That podcast will doubtless appear in the AppleVis summary of news for March 2018. For now, here is the summary for February 2018:
