6) HaptiBraille Communicator | A New And Innovative Device That Allows Deafblind Persons To Speak in a Synthesized Voice and Hear the Speech of the Interlocutor | YouTube Video

This information comes to us from 4Blind at https://4blind.com/en. 4Blind undertakes research to develop, create and produce innovative engineering solutions for both blind and deafblind people. 4Blind assists in meeting the needs of the blind and deaf-blind communities by expanding their opportunities and eliminating the barriers that people with disabilities face in communication, education, employment, transportation and independent living. The HaptiBraille device protects the interests and rights of deafblind people in personal and confidential matters. For example, when communicating with a doctor (confidentiality of certain medical records), in a bank (Bank Secrecy Act), or with a lawyer (Attorney Client Privilege). Earlier, communication with the deafblind was possible only with the presence of a third party, a special translator who knows a sign language. This is the world's first personal device for people with simultaneous visual, hearing and speech impairments (totally deafblind people), which allows them to speak in a synthesized voice and to "hear" the interlocutor's speech in return. This YouTube video demonstrates:.

➜ Surveys

1) Availability Of Healthcare Information To Blind And Visually Impaired Healthcare Users During The COVID Pandemic

Clsoe Date: September 30th 2021 Dear Listers, this is Sushil Oswal from the University of Washington. I am the principal investigator on a survey about the availability of healthcare information to blind and low-vision consumers during the past 18 months. This is an important survey for our blindness community because it will give us an opportunity to express our experiences of finding healthcare information during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please give us as much of your personal experiences as you can so that our study could create a comprehensive picture of the healthcare information barriers blind people face particularly under pandemic conditions. We will do a small draw of ten $25 gift cards for this survey. Besides publishing in academic journals, we will be producing a report on the basis of this healthcare information survey which will be shared with as many local and state-level health departments as possible. This report will also be available to blindness community at large. To complete the survey, please click the link below. If you have any questions about the survey, or you have difficulty completing the survey, please email me at oswal@u.washington.edu 📧️. Our human subjects approval includes a permission to conduct this survey over the phone if necessary. So, do not hesitate to email me privately if you face computer issues while completing this survey. My co-investigator and I will maintain your privacy in all possible circumstances:

About: Our Scope of Products: We specialize in 3 lines of products, all intended to assist in access to adaptive electronics, enhance experiences for guide dog teams, and offer practical solutions for organization and travel with a variety of leather bags, pouches, and backpacks. Then there are the random products that are included, just for fun! We enjoy working with our customers 1-on-1 to their money is well spent and not wasted on something they may not use. In thinking about our customers and whether we will carry a product our guiding motto is that it must be: practical, affordable, simple, tested, and accessible (the pasta principle) and it seems to work very well.

What We Do: We bring our business either via zoom, phone, or to your conference or convention, to give each customer a chance for questions and where possible, "hands on" evaluation of the merchandise. Kae and I test and use each product as blind users before we put it in our catalog. In the case of products for guide and service dogs, our own three guides, Thor, Debra and Melody, are engaged in the process of evaluating the usefulness, durability, and/or fun of the product. We want each of our products to be useful, accessible, afforable, and, whenever possible, fun! Our inventory is constantly changing, so a visit to us is never the same experience twice!
