1) For some time, Chip Orange has been developing a Word template and associated macros to allow screen reader users using any recent version of Microsoft Word to print CD labels, those on the disk itself as well as those for the front and spine of the jewel case, using Avery 5692 laser labels or 8692 ink jet labels. The template also allows for creation of a bar code which can be read by talking bar code readers and scripts. 2) The developers of AMIS, the free DAISY player, are looking for testers for version 3 which is nearing release.

4) Sean Farrow is creating Window-Eyes scripts for iTunes. If you use iTunes and want to test these scripts, which require Window-Eyes 7.0 beta, write to him at:

5) Assistive Technology Center offers several $50 two-hour-long online training sessions during August. You can buy them on CD later for the same price if you can't take part. Sessions start at 21:00 GMT. Tuesday, 5 August: "Blogs: What are they, why do you want one, and how can you get one?"; Tuesday, 12 August: "Message in an e-bottle: How to use Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, and webmail. Which ones are best for your purposes and why"; Tuesday, 19 August: Intermediate JAWS Training; Friday, 29 August: Window-Eyes set files. Registration is required.

6) Kathy Ann Murtha periodically offers online seminars, and one can download the content for costs ranging from $10 to $75. Available seminars concern computer maintenance and optimization, an introduction to Firefox version 3, PowerPoint, and the Office 2007 ribbon.

7) CD Burner XP is a free program for creating any kind of CD you might want to create. It was recently named the editor's choice for products of its category on the Gizmo's Tech Support Alert page.
