21) Microsoft May Be Lowering Windows 11 22H2 Startup Sound Quality

A couple of months ago during a Computex 2022 talk, Microsoft's Panos Panay, the Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, reminded everyone that the main driving factor throughout the Windows 11 development process is ensuring the quality of the OS. However, contrary to that, it looks like Microsoft has lowered the bit rate of the Windows 11 Startup sound in the upcoming version 22H2 (Sun Valley 2). The reduction was spotted by Twitter user and prolific leakster Xeno who saw that the audio file for the Startup sound has a reduced bit rate of 1,536 Kbps, down from 2,304 Kbps in last year's build 22463. This change was noticed in Beta Channel build 22621 which has been confirmed to be the RTM release candidate for Windows 11 22H2:

22) This Finger Tape Device Helps The Visually Impaired Correct Braille Misprints

The Braille Correction Device is a hand-worn finger tape that, as its name suggests, addresses an issue that not many of us consider — writing in Braille. Publishing in Braille is far more challenging and rare than regular printing, and field tests have shown that it has a very high error rate, making it even more difficult to edit typos and misprints without risking paper damage. The Braille Correction Device tapes over simple, easy-to-fix mistakes, just as correction fluid fixes tiny errors (not entire phrases or paragraphs). The device has earned the Golden Pin Design Award in the Product Design category because it is straightforward, user-friendly, and created to be a totally analog instrument:

23) Talk Online Using a Mobile Glove — Communication Via Touch

A device, called the Mobile Lorm Glove, has been developed in a Berlin lab. A glove kitted out with fabric pressure-sensors that functions as a communication and translation device for the deaf-blind. The prototype translates the hand-touch alphabet "Lorm", a common form of communication used by people with both hearing and vision impairment in German speaking countries, into text and vice versa:

Creating inclusive and usable experiences does not only apply to your company website or application but also includes digital interfaces one may encounter at a restaurant, healthcare facility, airport, or movie theater, to name a few. More organizations are adopting self-service kiosk technologies to improve their customers' experience in areas such as self-check-in kiosks, self-service lockers, and escape rooms. This webinar is focused on helping teams think about creating more accessible and inclusive customer experiences from website to in-person self-serve kiosk engagements. About: Our Scope of Products: We specialize in 3 lines of products, all intended to assist in access to adaptive electronics, enhance experiences for guide dog teams, and offer practical solutions for organization and travel with a variety of leather bags, pouches, and backpacks. Then there are the random products that are included, just for fun! We enjoy working with our customers 1-on-1 to their money is well spent and not wasted on something they may not use. In thinking about our customers and whether we will carry a product our guiding motto is that it must be: practical, affordable, simple, tested, and accessible (the pasta principle) and it seems to work very well.

What We Do: We bring our business either via zoom, phone, or to your conference or convention, to give each customer a chance for questions and where possible, "hands on" evaluation of the merchandise. Kae and I test and use each product as blind users before we put it in our catalog. In the case of products for guide and service dogs, our own three guides, Thor, Debra and Melody, are engaged in the process of evaluating the usefulness, durability, and/or fun of the product. We want each of our products to be useful, accessible, affordable, and, whenever possible, fun! Our inventory is constantly changing, so a visit to us is never the same experience twice!
