⬆︎ 1.) Welcome
Dearest Readers, Sponsors and Supporters of Top Tech Tidbits and Access Information News, I have prepared for you the following updates for March 28, 2024.
I know they are somewhat lengthy, but I've broken them up into chunks, each with a descriptive heading, to make them easier to get through.
In short, we need your help. We're growing. And we have some really incredible things in store for you. That goes for readers, Sponsors and Supporters alike. And so, without further ado, here's what's been happening behind the scenes.
⬆︎ 2.) Recent Delays and Outages
Over the last couple of weeks Top Tech Tidbits went out one day late, twice, and Access Information News missed an entire issue. These delays / issue cancellations were the result of each of these mailing lists exceeding 15,000 subscribers. When this happened we were prevented from sending to each list again until we could submit the required legal documentation and make the changes to our code required to continue sending. All of which we have now done.
But this process is not over. Now that we are over 15,000 subscribers we must continuously prove that we are meeting or exceeding international standards for sending email. Which, fortunately, is something that we excel at. But this also means that these delays / issue cancellations may happen again in the future. When and if they do, please know that we will always prioritize the updates required to the get the newsletter sending again as quickly as possible.
Which brings me to one final point that I would like mention. Top Tech Tidbits and Access Information News serve everyone. But not everyone serves Top Tech Tidbits and Access Information News. We received some feedback from readers and content contributors that basically came down to, "What the hell is going on? Where are my newsletters? I need my newsletters! You suck! Send me my newsletters!" All of which is sentiment we understand. We know that both Top Tech Tidbits and Access Information News have become important sources of information for people all over the world, each week. But I think it important to note here that neither publication has even met its Sponsorship limit yet. Which is to say that neither publication is even completely paying for itself yet. And none of the people that were providing this type of feedback were listed as Sponsors or Supporters of either publication. So I ask you to please consider helping us to keep both publications alive, now and going forward, by either donation or sponsorship, before you turn your anger toward the people bailing water from the boat. We could really use your help bailing water instead. If you love these newsletters as much as we do, and we know from your feedback that you do, then I ask you to please consider helping us to keep them alive. The bigger each list gets, the more resources are required to maintain them.
⬆︎ 3.) Making Some Cuts
In order to bring our editorial time spent on each issue down a little bit, without compromising the quality of the news that we deliver, we are considering phasing out the "Events" section within each newsletter. We haven't made a final decision on this yet, but it is something we're considering. If you find the Event Calendar that is shared by both newsletters useful, please consider making a donation today to help us keep it going. Without additional support we will likely phase out the Event Calendar going forward so that we can remain focused on news. Please let us know your thoughts.
⬆︎ 4.) News Articles Move From Editorial Order To Chronological Order of News Items
We have upgraded both newsletters to present all news items by release date, as opposed to editorial selection.
We feel that this is a much more fair and balanced approach to news presentation.
If your news article does not provide a release date, it will no longer be published.
I know that once upon a time, long ago, we were told that purposefully leaving the date off of an article could make it "evergreen," but nothing could be further from the truth today.
If you would like to continue to get free traffic for your news item going forward please be sure to include an accurate release date.
⬆︎ 5.) New Service And Sponsor Benefits Coming Soon
Finally, I mentioned in my Publisher Update back on January 11, 2024 that we were working on some new projects that I was excited about and that I would share more with you about over the next couple months. Well those couple of months have now passed and I am finally in a position where I can talk about at least one of them.
This is not an official launch announcement because we're going to need the help of Sponsors from both publications to get the new service up and running. So this is, instead, an unofficial announcement. Intentionally buried here at the very end of a long Publisher Update, thereby reserving it only for the most patient.
I am incredibly excited to unofficially announce the future launch of the (Access Technology) AT-Newswire by Top Tech Tidbits Press Release News Distribution Service. This new service will be a wholly separate entity from Top Tech Tidbits with its own state-of-the-art website, RSS and international news distribution channels. As a subsidiary of Top Tech Tidbits all AT-Newswire by Top Tech Tidbits Press Releases will also be distributed across all Top Tech Tidbits channels, for a starting distribution of 30,000 access-specific subscribers per Press Release. A number that will only grow from here.
If you are a Sponsor of Top Tech Tidbits or Access Information News at launch you will begin to receive one free Press Release per quarter, if you pay quarterly, or five free Press Releases per year, if you pay annually. Just like your Featured Advertisements. So, oh yes. Major new Sponsor Benefit addition.
We will also be asking for Sponsor help in pre-populating the AT-Newswire website at launch with high quality Press Releases from the access community at large. The more Sponsors that submit Press Releases, for free, the more exposure we will be able to generate for all of you at launch.
I will be providing updates on this as we move forward. I sincerely hope that you will join us in creating a brand new newswire. One specific to access information. One that gives you ability to reach 20K and growing access-specific readers anytime you need to. All of the legal, compliance and regulatory work has been completed. We are now left with the technical aspects of building the website, integrating the submission process, connecting all of the distribution channels and testing everything before launch.
I wish I could provide a launch date, but I cannot. Best guess? A month or two? So get your Press Releases together. And please consider taking advantage of some serious exposure by submitting your Press Releases to us for free distribution prior to launch. I will provide more details as we solidify the technical aspects. Welcome to AT-Newswire!
