JAWS Power Tip: How To Access Version History in OneDrive with JAWS
Released: 5/1/2025
The OneDrive desktop app is used to store files both in the cloud and on your device, making them easy to access when you need them.
When you save, then later modify a file, OneDrive creates a version history so you can access each version of that file.
This is especially useful if you accidentally delete content from the file or save over it altogether and need to restore it.
To access the version history for a file in OneDrive with JAWS:
1.) Navigate to File Explorer and locate the file.
2.) Press SHIFT+F10 to open a context menu containing file options.
3.) Press UP ARROW to locate More Options and press ENTER.
4.) Press V to navigate to Version History and press ENTER.
5.) Use the arrow keys to navigate the list of versions for the file. They will be numbered 1.0, 2.0, etc. JAWS will speak the version number, plus the time and date the file was created or modified.
6.) Press SHIFT+F10 on a version of the file to access a context menu. Navigate the menu using the arrow keys and press ENTER on an option to select it. Options include: Restore, Delete version, and Open file. Restoring a previous version deletes the most recent version, so make sure this is what you intend to do before selecting this option.
7.) Press ALT+F4 to close the Version History.
