JAWS Power Tip: How To Spellcheck an Email in the New Outlook
Released: 9/25/2025
The new Outlook desktop app has a new design that differs from that of Outlook Classic, and can be navigated with JAWS using keyboard commands.
In Outlook Classic, you can check spelling by pressing F7; however, this keyboard command does not work in the new Outlook.
Instead, to check spelling and grammar in the new Outlook:
1.) From within the message, press ALT then P to open the Options menu.
2.) Press DOWN ARROW to navigate to the Editor menu and press ENTER.
3.) Press ENTER on Open Editor to display the Editor options.
4.) Press TAB to navigate the editor dialog.
5.) Press SPACEBAR on Total Suggestions to review all misspelled words.
6.) The spelling suggestions are displayed in a list. Navigate this list using the arrow keys and press ENTER on the correct spelling suggestion.
7.) Press ESC when the spellcheck is complete to return to your message.
