JAWS Power Tip: How To Use Speech and Sound Schemes

JAWS for Windows Tips.


JAWS speaks all text using the same voice by default.

Speech and Sounds Schemes enable you to distinguish between different types of information using a different voice or specified sound.

This includes:

• Different fonts
• Bolded, italicized, or underlined text
• Foreground or background colors
• Indented text

Choose from existing schemes or create your own scheme for further customization.

To select a scheme, do the following:

1. Press INSERT+ALT+S to access the Speech and Sounds Schemes dialog box.

2. Press the UP ARROW key or DOWN ARROW key to navigate the list of available schemes.

3. To select a scheme, press ENTER.
