This week, Amazon announced two new features, including Call Captioning and Send My Shopping List.

Call Captioning: Alexa can now display text of what the other party is saying in near real-time one-on-one Alexa video and audio calls and Drop In calls. Call Captioning supports U.S. English and is available today on all Echo Show devices. This feature may be particularly useful to customers who are deaf, hard of hearing, or in loud or noisy environments.

More details on Call Captioning can be found on the Alexa Accessibility hub. Amazon also announced several other Alexa calling features today, including Group Calling, Zoom and Amazon Chime on Echo Show 8, and Kids Calling on Fire Tablets. Read this blog post to learn more about those other announcements.

Send My Shopping List: Alexa customers in the U.S. can now seamlessly share their shopping needs with their contacts via the Alexa app or compatible Echo devices. Customers can simply say, "Alexa, send my shopping list to __," and Alexa will identify the contact and confirm that it's the correct match for sharing. She will then send a message directly to the receiver's Alexa account with the Shopping List.

With more customers staying home due to the pandemic, this feature is particularly useful for those who may be taking care of loved ones who are unable to make it to the grocery store themselves. It's also helpful for customers who have disabilities and enjoy having more flexibility to create and share their shopping needs with others.
